The stone itself
Because it is a natural stone and it is heavily brecciated. Within a single block the slabs differ from one another in colour distribution and in the movement of the grain, and two blocks of the same material do not carry the same yellow tone. Slab grouping is a decision, not an afterthought.

The stone is a breccia: fragments broken and re-cemented, with the calcite seams running through it. The pattern is the result of that history, and two pieces of it will never be the same object.
What these figures are, and what they are not This site does not pin one pattern. A page that promises a single look and then shows a block that differs is the failure the finish dictionary was written to avoid.
